To Hold you Over

I didn't make it out to any sales this weekend... was too busy with Halloween activies.  Friday night, I saw an amazing band called Here Comes the Mummies.  If you ever get the chance to see them - DO IT!  Saturday night I saw my friends' band, Big Daddy Caddy, play.  They always put on an amazing Halloween show.

Yesterday I cleaned up one of my spare bedrooms show rooms for all of my stuff.  Here is the room cleaned up...

See anything you like?

I also started unpacking my Christmas ornaments already, as I've come to the realization (as many hoarders collectors do), that I have way more than I need, and should only buy really special ones at this point.  I've been really good about that lately.  Anyone else have this problem with the thing that they collect?

Also, if your state participates in the Powerball, here is your public service announcement: GO BUY A TICKET!  It's almost at 250 million.  Man... the junk I could buy with that...

This Weekend

Found this AMAZING giveaway from Liz Mathews.  I am officially a huge Liz fan now.  Can't wait to see what else she has up her sleeve.  Thank you Vintage Rescue Squad for the heads up.

Planning on heading to an estate sale this weekend and/or unpacking some Christmas ornaments.  Hopefully will have some beautiful photos to post for you next week.

Stay tuned...

Covered Bridge Festival: Day 1

Wanted to share pictures of one of the covered bridges we came across while out treasure hunting Saturday.  Parke County, Indiana has the most covered bridges per square mile than anywhere else in the world.  Kinda cool?  It is scary to drive across these things.

Okay... now what you've been waiting for... my finds!  You will notice a kitschy kitchen theme...

Lustroware Canister Set. SOLD!

EXTRA LARGE Shiny Brites!

Definitely the deal of the day
20c for 2 aluminum cups.

Red and Brown Pyrex Fridge Dishes - SOLD!

More Pyrex Fridge Dishes.
Love the primary colors.

Love mini oil lamps!
Added to my current collection of about 20.

My kitchen is kitschy and all green.

I have also officially started a lonely green (salt or pepper) shaker club.  I have bought a TON of single shakers lately.  It kinda gives me a challenge to find the other, also I have a sneaking suspicion that I will never find some.  If you have this guys mate -- email me!

On another note, completely unrelated... wanted to send my condolences to Dan Weldon's family and friends.  The IndyCar sport has truly lost a great a man and racer.  I saw him win both of his Indianapolis 500 wins , and it will not be the same come next May and he is not there to defend his 2011 win.  I have loved going to the Indianapolis 500, ever since I moved to Indiana 12 years ago, and it is just horrible when something like this happens.  It has seriously impacted not only Indianapolis, but the world.

Everyone please stay safe!

What I Got in Friday's Mail

Look what I got in the mail when I got home from work on Friday....

This is a vintage Cat and the Fiddle Shiny Brite I got from Linda at My Vintage Soul.  Big thank you to her for letting me buy it.  **Reminder - If you see anything here that I show, let me know, and if it's not sold already, I will set up an Etsy listing for you.  If you're part of my family - pick up the phone and call me!!

Someone knows I love vintage ornaments... and sent me 4 boxes that they got for free, so passed them along to me!! :)

Posts about Day 1 of my Covered Bridge Festival treasure hunts coming soon...

Hope everyone had a great weekend so far!

First Post

I decided to start this blog because I've been collecting, junking, picking, or whatever you want to call it for many years now.  I should have prefaced that with the fact that I've been doing it since before I knew what it was.  My mom, her sisters, and my grandma are collectors and dealers, so I learned from the best what it is about.  About a year ago I opened my Etsy shop and used it as a platform to sell items I accumulated in my adventures that I either no longer wanted, or never wanted in the first place (hello $1 box lots at auctions).  I have always been on the hunt for items for other people also and after continuously seeing their reactions to the items, I knew I had to do this for complete strangers too.  The thrill of the hunt and the satisfaction from knowing someone is enjoying what I found... the  reason I've started buying just to sell.  (That, and the money is pretty good too.)  Besides Etsy I am selling on eBay.  Is that enough of a background for now?

Do you want to see a few things I've bought lately?

This Saturday and Sunday I will be going to the Covered Bridge Festival that takes place in Parke County (yes, the WHOLE county), Indiana.  It goes from October 14-23.  I probably will not go to the actual festival part, because most of the vendors are selling crafty things.  There are a few vintage/antique dealers, but the prices are pretty high.  What I'll be doing is taking Highway 40 from the West in and on Saturday and Highway 36 from the West on Sunday and stopping at yard/garage sales.  There are even entire tiny (100 or less people) towns where the ENTIRE town is one giant garage sale.  I'll have my mom and her sister with me and we will all be battling to get the best stuff for our collection or to sell.  We've got some pretty great stuff in the past.  I can't wait to show you what I see during the weekend - especially the people.  People watching is one of my favorite things.

Everyone have a safe and happy weekend!
