Anyone else have a good junkin' weekend??

Goodies from Last Sunday & After Work Thrifting

Eeek, it's been awhile.  I've been swamped at work, but thankful for the vacation in 2 weeks.  Also been swamped at home -- thank you for all who have purchased items from my etsy or ebay stores.

Here's a few things I picked up at an afternoon consignment auction last Sunday...

cute little bird canister and bread box set

Free cobwebs!  Deal of the day!  I love the can... just need a head.

Now a few items I picked up after work today at the thrift store...

Better hit the hay, it's a little after 1, and there's a great auction and pop up flea market in the AM.  Even better - they're within walking distance of each other.

California Dreamin' on Such a Winter's Day

I'd be safe and warm
if I was in L.A
California Dreamin'
on such a winter's day

The snow is just beginning to fall here this morning where I live.  So, I decided to take a vacation.  One month from today I'll be basking in the Los Angeles sunglight.  Oh, and I get to visit a special someone.  You know who you are.  So what am I going to do for the week and half that I'm there?  Well first on my list is to visit the Rose Bowl Flea Market on February 12th.  I have been looking forward to going to this one for a long time.

** Does anyone have any other suggestions for great places to thrift, shop, eat, visit, etc?  I've been to LA before, so I've been to the typical tourist places.  I want to go to more unique places.

Also, a big congrats to the 52 Flea blog on her anniversary!  And what a GREAT giveaway!

Hope everyone has a great day!

Not My Usual Junking Location...

There were no good auctions or estate sales within a reasonable driving distance from my house today.  I was pretty bummed, but this is the first Saturday in a long time that I got to sleep in.  I was out running errands today, when I noticed a big 50% off sign at the Goodwill near my house.  I had never been in it, since moving into my house 2 1/2 years ago, so I decided I would check it out.

I was floored at the great things I found that people had donated.  So when I checked out with my things, I asked the cashier "Do you guys have 50% off sales often?"  And she looked at me like I was from a different planet, and replied, "Don't you know they're the first Saturday of every month at all Goodwills?"  I simply replied with an "Okay," knowing that most of my Saturdays aren't spent running errands near my house, but at auctions that start before Goodwill even opens, and estate sales that are even earlier.

This was the point where I decided that I was going to save all the great vintage and antiques that had been donated from a phrase I am coining "Goodwill damnation."  I like to think that the majority of the stuff that folks buy at Goodwill ends up back there eventually.  I wanted to give a second life to some of these items and connect them with collectors, so they don't end up back in a crusty pile of Goodwill stuff.

Without further delay, here are the items I rescued from Goodwill damnation...

The haul came from 5 different stores.
I could've gone to more, but I needed a nap.

2 Fire King casseroles and a Glasbake casserole.
I love the pattern on the Glasbake.
Haven't decided if I'll keep it for myself.
It would be my first Glasbake piece.

Getting Back in the Swing of things

I wanted to show you so many more things during Christmas, but this year was just too busy!  I will try to snap some photos as I take things down.

I'm getting back in the swing of things.  After being absent from the Etsy selling scene for more than 6 months, I AM BACK!!!!! :)  ** Please oh please won't you check out the lovely items in my etsy store?  Also got some great listings up in my ebay store too!

There are wonderful vintage Christmas items, old sewing drawers (don't worry, I saved some for myself!), pyrex, and some mason jars.

My 2012 Goal - to devote more time to junking and my stores.  Also, to learn how to take better photos. And spend less time on Pintrest.

**Between finishing my etsy listings and finishing this post, I've sold 3 things.  I've missed you etsy!
