The boyfriend joined me for his first auction. I think he was skeptical, because he knows what I normally buy at these things. But, as I said, the power was out, so there wasn't many options for things to do at home. Plus, the building where the auction was was air conditioned.
We got there about 10 minutes before the auction started. They were running 3 rings of stuff. We just wandered around looking at the different things I wanted to bid on. Then he spotted it... a few boxes of records. They may as well have been the holy grail. There was Zeppelin I, II, and III, Physical Graffiti, The Wall, Animals, and Ummagumma. There were many other really great albums in there too. So the boyfriend was like a hawk on them all day. Then finally they come up for sale. He tells me his max is $50 per box. So we get to $50 and get outbid. It goes much further than that. The look on his face was of utter disappointment/heartbreak. So we go back to the main ring and sit down and see what's coming up for sale next. I tell him I'll be right back. I go to find the man who won both boxes of records. I give him my story about how the boyfriend really wants these 7 records. I tell him I'll pay him $10 a record. He was really nice about it and agrees. So we go to his truck and I pick out those 7 records, hand over $70, and I bring them back in to the boyfriend. I don't think I've seen him this happy. And let me tell you, it's all I heard about for the rest of the day.

I think I had some pretty great buys for a Sunday. Will be showing you pictures of the barn progress soon. Along with some of my grandma's items that she wants me to try and sell for her.
Happy Monday.

Aw, aren't you a good girlfriend! Those records are awesome! That's such a cool way to get an instant collection.
ReplyDeleteNice glassware scores too! Garden Medley has a cradle and a little fabric warmer that goes with it I think.
Hope your class is going well!
You scored on the refrigerator dishes! Love them all. What a great thing to do for you boyfriend!!! Thanks for joining TTF.

I just passed on a big daisy bowl about 3 weeks ago and have been kicking myself ever since. It was that or a picnic set and the picnic set won out.
ReplyDeleteThe embossed clear glass fridge dishes are Federal Glass.
