There weren't many options for auctions in my area this weekend. I decided to go to a hoarder's auction that was only 20 minutes from me. I was a little worried because all the pictures that were posted just showed junk. So, I was hoping there were some buried treasures in there somewhere.
This first piece is in REALLY great shape, except for the top and edges. They have a lot of white paint on them. Looks like they tried to paint the wall without moving the furniture. Also, as you can see, some of the finish is coming off in places on the front. Although it will be a little work, I'm going to sand this finish off and re-stain it a nice dark color. Then to the booth. Or my house. Would you refinish it or keep it original?
This is the second piece I bought. A 24 drawer parts/file cabinet. I freaking love this and again... after cleaning this up, I may keep up. The top is a little rough and may need sand blasted and repainted. The rest is in great shape.
I really liked this cute little ornate shelf. It will look great in my booth once I had the space for it! All it needs is a little lemon oil to spruce it up!
This piece is an amazing older piece... except for the fact that someone put crappy plywood on the back. The rest is solid oak. I think if the plywood is replaced with oak and the rest is sanded down and then stained a dark color, this will look really nice. What do you think?
The auction ran several rings and all the junk was mostly sold it lots, so it went rather quick. I knew I needed to visit my booth space and bring more stuff.
The "gone with the wind" style lamp was a purchase from the hoarder too. I added a little Christmas tree with some vintage ornaments. I definitely need to bring in more holiday goodies. However, my Christmas etsy shop,
Melissa's Retro Christmas, sells so much holiday stuff this time of year and need to keep my stock for this store too.
What are you doing to your booth space for the holidays?
The washstand with pitcher and bowl was also a purchase from the hoarder. I think it is so adorable! There were lots of empty spaces that I filled. I am always trying to come up with new ways to maximize my space. What would you do to your walls if they were pegboard, like mine, knowing you can't nail or screw anything in?
Hope you all had a good weekend!
Melissa
