Saturday's Auction Buys

I went to another great auction on Saturday.  It happened to be a combination of the remains of 2 dealers that were getting out of the antiques business.  Sad day for them, but good day for me!  It was an unusually quick auction.  It only lasted 3 hours.

So, onto the good stuff, right?  Here's what the back of my truck looked like when I got home.

And here are the goodies all unwrapped...

train cases and graniteware

cameras, west bend hot pot travel
coffee kit, and pretzel advertising

my favorite find!  lots of boxes of letters/numbers
I love vintage school supplies.

creepy old pictures and religious puzzles

the rusty crustys!  old ticket box, metal drawer full of hardware,
casters, and hole punch.

2 pyrex hostess dishes and lots of fire king mugs

mamie, enamel soap dish, thermometer, and aren't those
santa match holders ADORABLE??

1920s wood folding chair, metal folding chair,
and sterling beer sign

Overall, I think I brought home lots of good stuff.  Everyone keep your fingers crossed too, because I'm hoping for nice weather this coming Saturday, so I can finally have my first outdoor sale this year!

Look What I Found

Was on my way to dinner with the boyfriend last night.  We were meeting up to watch the NFL draft and have a few cold adult beverages.  I was getting ready to pass the local goodwill outlet and I had a little spare time, so I texted him to let him know I was stopping.  You can only imagine the response.  Of course he wasn't surprised.  Besides, I ended up only being 5 minutes late!

Since I didn't have a lot of time, I didn't dig through the bins too much.  I really was looking for small pieces to remake - wood shelves, etc.

Well, here's what I found in my 5 minute jaunt:

Not too bad for a quick little stop, huh?  I posted this on my facebook page last night offering dibs and some of these are already spoken for! :)

Heading to an awesome auction tomorrow with my momma.  Hope to pick up some good stuff.  Can't wait to show you!

Happy Friday!

P.S. Blogland friends - please send positive vibes my way on Monday!  I'll let you all know why later :)

Saturday's Auction Haul

Because of previously mentioned floods canceling out my first flea of the year, I decide to go out and buy more.  Because when you're not able to sell stuff, why not go buy more, right??

I went to a little antique store that was going out of business in Lebanon, IN.  It was called Hole in the Wall Antiques.  There were some really cool things still left in the store.  It was a small crowd of us -- and we were all dealers -- and we all knew each other in one way or another.  So, it made the day interesting, to say the least.

Here's what I came home with (images courtesy of my facebook page):

Before unpacking...

The record player (still works!) went to the boyfriend.
He loved it!

Having a hard time deciding if I'm keeping the shelf for me.
It is the perfect chippy green.

The last of the haul.
One of my bffs, Abby, just placed claims on the little Japanese figurines.  A few items are headed to my ebay store.  The rest is being saved for the next flea market on May 4th.

Hope everyone had a WONDERFUL weekend!

April Showers

Unfortunately due to the nonstop April showers that central Indiana has seen over the last few days, my first outdoor sale is cancelled due to flooding!  They actually shut down schools and businesses today because of the vast flooding in some areas.  I didn't want to set up in a muddy mess, but I WILL be going out to shop and support the brave souls who do!  I will hopefully be setting up for the next one on May 4th.

On the plus side -- remember that barn I bought? -- pieces are coming down.  If you live in the Indianapolis or surrounding area and are interested in barn wood or corrugated metal sheets from the roof, please email me.

Everyone have a good weekend!

Family Estate Sale: What I Bought

Happy Monday all!  I am recovering from a weekend jaunt to DC just to get out of Indiana.  The weather was beautiful and it was the Cherry Blossom Festival!

I've been tagging items and packing up things in boxes.  I did want to share with you the finds I got from my great aunt's estate sale.

I got lots and LOTS of vintage wallpaper. Most of it never used. I did some research and similar rolls are selling for $50-200. There are some chippy white spindles.  There are 3 salvage pieces that I literally had to pry off the walls of her house: the 2 coat hangers and little green shelf. There was also 3 trash cans - one has a cute little puppy on it. There is a few wood crates.  I love that my aunt litrally never threw anything way.

There are a few other things in the picture that have come from other auctions.

The best thing I got last week was my new business cards!  What do you think of them?  I designed them in Photoshop and ordered them through Got Print.  They have the best deals on cards, hands down.

As a friendly reminder.  My first outdoor sale is this Saturday.

Family Estate Sale

So last Saturday, at the auction where I bought a barn, it was actually the estate sale of my great aunt Catherine.  She was 97, so as you can imagine, she had a lot of stuff.  This sale was almost a year in the making, there was that much stuff.  My aunt and uncle had a big hand in putting it together, but I did get to help on Friday and Saturday before the sale.  It was the first outdoor auction of the year, so it drew a crowd of nearly 700 people.  A lot of it family.  I have a rather large family - I have about 350 living relatives on that side of my family alone.

I took a lot of pictures while we were setting up the Friday evening before the estate auction.  So here they are... Be warned there are a lot!

These following photos were from inside the house.  I will not show very many for privacy reasons.

Don't you LOVE this wallpaper?  I took home about 25 rolls of very old wallpaper from the sale.

What an AMAZING cabinet!

This was one of the last things I took out of the house to be sold.  I really wanted it for myself.  Some other lucky auction patron went home with it for a pretty penny.

Looking down the stairs from the upstairs.  Very steep, scary stairs.

I hope you've enjoyed looking at the pictures of my great aunt's things that she collected over her 97 years.  So happy that her auction brought in lots of a money for a great charity organization.  I will show pictures of what I got away with soon before I tag it and pack it away for my first outdoor sale of the year!
