The 8 Hour Auction

Saturday was super snowy, so there wasn't much I could do.  Late in the day I was able to make a trip to the Goodwill Outlet and hit up an estate sale an hour before it closed.  I did end up going to an auction on Sunday.  It was a big one and there were probably 400-500 attendees.  After realizing I wasn't going to be able to buy anything while there were still 400-500 people bidding against each other, I ended up leaving and going to the local antique store that was a few blocks away.  I was able to pick up a few goodies and by the time I got back to the auction, I was able to start buying stuff.

Here are the big pieces I picked up on Sunday.  I definitely needed another bookcase for the booth.  The mini corner cabinet and white chippy cupboard are great for stacking on shorter pieces like the bookshelf.  I can't seem to keep these coke crates in stock, so I was happy to pick up 5 of them.  The mirror is actually the front of a vintage medicine cabinet.  I'm tempted to keep it.

I really loved these 2 prints.  I got them at the Goodwill Outlet.  They are 1920s or earlier.  They are marked on the back that they hung in a doctors office in the 1920s.  Pretty cool.

Got all of these goodies at the auction.   Fire King isn't as popular as Pyrex, but for a REALLY great price, I will buy it.  Usually if I price it fairly cheaply, it moves quickly.  I can't seem to keep salt and pepper sets in my booth.  The weirder the better.

Random odds and ends of 3 different places: the antique store, an estate sale (that was closing in less than an hour), and the Goodwill Outlet.  The Pyrex is one of the uglier patterns, but it was 75% off, so how could I pass it up for a buck something each?

A large depression bowl and cake plate from the auction.

Can't get enough vintage bedding.
These will be heading to Instagram.

Found this vintage Dritz needlepoint at the Goodwill Outlet.
This will probably end up on ebay.

2 items for the booth that usually sell as soon as I bring them in.  I can't seem to keep them in stock.

I've been obsessed with vintage greeting cards lately.  Why can't they make them like this anymore?  I found a whole stash as the Goodwill Outlet.  I also picked up a box of them at the auction on Sunday.  Most still have their original envelopes with stamps.  I will be listing them for sale on Instagram next week.

All-in-all, the auction lasted a little over 8 hours.  Thankfully I had dealer friends to visit with and I was able to get out for a couple hours at the beginning.

That's it for this week.  I don't plan on attending any sales this weekend, but instead mom and I will finally get around to changing my booths into one big booth.

Valentine's Day Auction Finds

We don't really celebrate Valentine's Day, which is okay by me.  But, I did treat myself to an auction and picked up a few things...

I picked up this lot of fun, flowery linens.
The aqua/white doily will be used under one of my centerpieces at my wedding.

I got this lot of green depression fairly cheaply.
I'll be keeping the drawer pulls and 2 salts.

Smalls are always good for the booth.
Lots of mini advertising tins.
Door knobs. Chandelier crystals.
And a 1988 Carson City bowling patch.

Hammered aluminum pitcher and cups.

I really loved the packaging on these Christmas lights.

I can't stop buying bingo games!
I've been selling lots of cards and marking chips.

My favorite buys from the auction.
This awesome parts drawer, milk box, and mini toolboxes with keys.

That's it for the finds.  Not much, but quality goods.

I've also been working on cleaning up the hoard/my office.
I shared an update here last week.

At the auction there were 2 shelves identical to the ones I already had.
I used them to heighten the shelves I have currently.
Lots of progress!

Look at my desk!  I haven't seen the top in over a year.

Now the shipping supplies are organized in this corner now, as opposed to just being thrown over there.  I used this plastic shelving unit I had lying around.

The weatherman is saying we're supposed to get 5-8 inches of snow this weekend.  So it may put a damper my treasure hunting adventures.

Have a good weekend, everyone!

The Luckiest Damn Friday the 13th

Happy Friday the 13th, everyone!  I just COULD NOT wait to share how absolutely lucky I got this morning at an estate sale!  I don't know if it tops my gigantic suitcase haul from last April, but it comes pretty close.

I pulled up to the house where the estate sale was to be held around 8am, which was an hour before the sale opened.  No one was there.  There weren't even any signs.  So when 15 minutes had gone by and no one was there yet, I called the phone number for the guy that was running the sale.  He didn't answer.  I left a message.  Then another person shows up to wait.  We agreed I was #1 and he was #2.  Then #3 and #4 show up.  FINALLY with only 30 minutes to go, the estate sale company shows up.  Then, so do all the people.  I am thankful I waited... and you're about to see why...

A full minty set of pink Pyrex mixing bowls and half a set of aqua ones.
AND they were all 6 sold as a set, which I talked the guy down $30.
Worth the hour wait, if you ask me.
Now that I have these in my possession, I don't know if I can part with them.
And I don't collect pink or aqua.

I also walked away with this adorable child's set.

While I'm here, I'll give you an update on my office/the hoard.
I've been working hard to organize stuff and get as much as possible to my booth.

 Looks pretty clean, right?

Until you look to the left and see the closet with boxes full of crap.

And the desk where I've put more stuff that was on the floor.

Will I ever be able to take pictures for etsy again?
Maybe one day.

Even a little progress is progress!

Valentine's Day at the Booth

I attended an auction on Saturday that was pretty highly attended, but I managed to pick up a few goodies.  Let's take a look, shall we?

A mid-century lazy susan and snack set (cups + plates).
Also a decanter and vase that were part of the lot.

I also got these 2 pieces of Pyrex, 2 jadeite mugs,
and large green depression fridge dish.

I added the large fridge dish to these 2 that I already have.
Although not complete, the set is available in my booth.

It has been 2 weeks since I've gone to my booth and I needed to pick up my check from January.  Mom joined me.  We brought in 6 boxes full of stuff that I've bough recently and much that I cleaned out from the hoard in my office.  It's beginning to look a lot better!

Well, just when I thought I couldn't fit any more stuff in my booth, we managed to.  Mom is pretty genius with packing and organizing.

I hit up the valentine's section at dollar store this past week and found these red, pink, and white paper doilies.  I wish I'd found them earlier.  I plan on using them year round as doilies under my items.  It adds a little something extra and helps items stand out.

Rearranged and added items to the valentine's day shelf.

I promise there's lots of goodies in the cabinet.
I forgot to open it up to show you the contents.

No valentine's day here at the new booth.
Trying to keep a more "mantique" vibe.

I try to squeeze stuff...

...into every...

...nook...

...and every...

...cranny.

Happy (early) Valentine's Day!
