40th Annual Greater Indianapolis Garage Sale & Marketplace

I've been home from our honeymoon for about a week.  Thank you all for your kind messages and comments while I was gone.  We had a great time and can't wait for our next adventure.

But, before I go off on a tangent, let's get back to what you're all here for... the vintage junk!

On Saturday me and mom went to the Greater Indianapolis Garage Sale & Marketplace.  We attended this event last year too!  Like I said last year, there were quite a bit of antique dealers, if you could get through all the junk (old and new).

Like last year, it was very crowded.  We got there right when it opened at 9A, which helped with the crowds a bit, as it didn't really pick up until 10A, when we were making our first trip to the truck!

You never know what you're going to find at this sale...

I was able to take home a fair amount of stuff... so let's take a look at what I bought.  The name of the game on Saturday was definitely "how much if I buy it all?" My favorite question.

I've never come across this much Barlett Collins at one time.  So, I bought it all.

Little odds and ends that I picked up.

I bought these off a guy who used to work for a (now defunct) local puzzle company.  They were selling unopened 1000 piece puzzles for $2 - a fraction of the cost if you bought them in the store.  They also had a selection of 500 piece puzzles that were 5 for $1.  My mom bought quite a bit of each.  I picked out the only older ones that lacked a UPC, so I knew it had to be pre 1974, when they first started using them.

I've seen quite a few folks on Instagram get into collecting vintage squeaky toys.  So I picked these guys all up for 3 different booths.  I trialed one in my booth that I picked up Thanksgiving weekend for free.  It sold within a day.  It was the same brand as the little boy squeaky on the far right.

I also thought I'd try a few small vintage plastic dolls.  I picked them up cheaply, so if they don't sell, oh well.  I like to keep buying new and different stuff, so that I have a variety of things to offer.

I love old letters/symbols.  This guy is pretty big - nearly 24" tall.

Remember the "what if I buy it all?" motto...

I absolutely love old pennants (especially that bright pink Salt Lake City one in the upper right corner).

I love all the colors.

There were also so great ones from local places here in Indiana.

Another fun Salt Lake City one here.

Continuing with the "what if I buy it all?" question... I bought all of these new old stock laundry soaps and ice cream packages from one dealer.

All of these old ice cream bar packages would make cute treat bags, etc.  I've already sold many sets to some Instgram friends who deal strictly with vintage ephemera.

Wishing you all great junkin' in 2016!
Melissa

  2. I'm not familiar with Bartlett Collins, but it sure does look pretty all together. I spy a couple Hazel Atlas pieces in your little odds and ends. Great scores all!

  7. I like all the old pennants, especially the Chicago Science and Industry one since I'm from Chicago. Are those good sellers for you? I've bought them in the past and had to practically give them away. :-(

  13. Well you started the year off with a bang--great buys, as always, Melissa. Love the pennants and the ice cream wrappers, but I'm not getting the squeaky toy craze. I see them a lot on Instagram, too :) Thanks for linking up with Vintage Charm and welcome home!
