Two Days on the Old National Road Yard Sale

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend.  I sure did!  I spent 2 days traveling the length of US 40 through Indiana.  Of course, I wasn't traveling it just to travel it... this past weekend was the US 40 (Old National Road) Yard Sale.  You can read about my trip from last year HERE.  You can read about my 2014 trip HERE.

The first day I traveled from Plainfield to Terre Haute, Indiana.  The barn above hosts a sale each year.  I've been hitting this spot for many years.

One of the many gravel roads traveled down off of US 40 to get one of the many barn sales.

In a stop just outside Plainfield, I got all of this at one stop.

At a stop just after the above stop, I purchased this vintage sewing machine for a song.  It will be dismantled and sold for parts.

My annual lunch stop.  If you're ever in the area, they have great food!

I always have a cold one with my lunch. :)

At a stop in the same town as my lunch break, I found this Edward Mobley squeaky bear.  So, it of course called for a selfie.

This stop was a guy cleaning out the remainder of his antique store stock.  He was really looking to unload all of it, so I left him my card.

This was a great stop! I've never seen a Skotch Kooler like this one before with the pump top!

When you see this sign you know you're only 5 minutes from Terre Haute, my stopping point for the day.

A flea market I hit to end my day.

All I found in the flea market was a Happy Apple.

It was a blazing hot and very humid day... so I got some ice cream to finish the day!

Day 2 my mom joined me.  We traveled from Cumberland to Centerville, Indiana.  It rained off and on all day.  It was raining the hardest when we first started in the morning.  We were thinking we wouldn't find much.

One of the first stops we were able to pick a warehouse of a father/son picking team.  They were liquidating because the father had moved out of state.  Mom and I spent a good 90 minutes digging for stuff.

Another excellent stop.... I bought more than what you see here!  The pink suitcases are actually part of a 4 piece set.  The medium sized suitcase is inside of the largest one.

I picked a guy's barn last year and I was able to do the same again this year.  I was able to get all of this for a great deal.

Here's a picture of his barn.  It was way more full than last year.

At the end of day 2, I stood on my bumper and took a picture.

Well, you've got a sneak peek of some of my buys here.  This is all I have had time for at this point.  I haven't even unpacked all my buys yet.  It may not get done any time soon.  Hubby and I are headed for San Diego for a very long weekend.

  1. You always find the best stuff. We did a good portion of the 400 mile KY sale and I was appalled at the high prices this year. Retail in a lot of places - so annoying. Where are the good deals??? LOL.

  2. What fun!!!! I lived just a half mile off The Old National Road in Ohio for 30 years. We had the best yard sales in that neck of the woods, no need ever to travel.

  3. Enjoy your weekend after all your hard "fun" work. Looks like you scored big time, as you always seem to do. I guess I need to get to Indiana one day. :)

  4. Great stuff. I've never see a Scotch cooler like yours with a pump either. We have a road here in Atlanta called Old National Highway (US 441). Same?

  10. HWY 40 looks like one we need to check out. Mr. G & I so enjoy yard sale-ing, esp the hwy sales. We've done all of the 400 mile 68/80 yd sale in KY, All of the HWY 25 in KY/Tn and all of the World's Longest Yd sale, HWY 127 which was a real adventure with some beautiful scenery in TN. I've got our experience posted on my blog as well. Now I'm off to check out your previous years.
