127 Yard Sale: Snacks for the Road

Hi all!  It's that time of year again!  The World's Longest Yard Sale is upon us!  I decided this year, instead of waiting until the day it officially starts, I'd be getting a head start and finding the really good junk before anyone else gets their hands on it!

This year, I'm making a few snacks for the road (and after the days are over)...

Freezer Margaritas!

Ingredients:
- 4 shots Jose Cuervo Classic Margarita Mix
- 4 shots of plain ol' water
- 2 shots of Jose Cuervo tequila

How to:
- Pour above ingredients in a ziplock sandwich baggie
- Put several ziplock baggies full in a larger bag
- Put in freezer
- Get a straw and enjoy at the end of a long day

Due to the low water content and alcohol, these won't freeze up, they'll stay slushy.  If you don't like it frozen, you can use this same recipe, but just add a few ice cubes to it!

Blackberry Freezer Margaritas!

Ingredients:
- 8 shots Jose Cuervo Classic Margarita Mix
- 4 shots of plain ol' water
- 4 shots of Jose Cuervo tequila
- 1/2 cup frozen blackberries

How to (makes 2):
- Pour above ingredients in a blender
- Blend until berries are chopped up
- Pour into sandwich baggies*
- Put several ziplock baggies full in a larger bag
- Put in freezer
- Get a straw and enjoy at the end of a long day

These also won't freeze up, they'll stay slushy.  If you don't like it frozen, you can use this same recipe, but just use fresh berries and add a few ice cubes to it!

*tip: if you don't want the blackberry seeds, pour through a sieve when you're pouring in baggies.

Melissa's No Frills Chex Mix!

Ingredients:
- 4.5 cups of corn chex*
- 4.5 cups of plain cheerios*
- 1.5 sticks of butter/margarine
- 4 tablespoons worcestershire sauce
- 2.5 tsp salt
- .5 tsp paprika
- 1.5 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder

How to (makes 9 cups):
- melt butter in microwavable bowl
- add spices to butter and stir
- put cereal on baking pans in a thin layer (I split mine in 2 13"x9" pans)
- spoon butter/spice mixture evenly over cereal
- bake in oven at 250F, stirring every 15 minutes, for 60 to 75 minutes
- take out once cereal is no longer soggy and is crunchy

*tip: you can use any type of chex cereal or add pretzels or peanuts or whatever you like... just make sure that everything you put in the mix adds up to 9 cups.  I just happen to like mine more on the plain side.

Chocolate Peanut Butter Chex Cheerio No Bake Bars!

Ingredients:
- 5 cups corn chex*
- 1 cup cheerios*
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 cup corn syrup
- 1 cup peanut butter
- 1 tbsp vanilla
- .5 tsp salt
- 1 cup chocolate chips
- tsp olive oil

How to:
- in sauce pan over medium heat mix brown sugar and corn syrup
- stir constantly, so sugar doesn't burn, and bring to a boil for about a minute
- take off heat, add peanut butter and mix until smooth
- add vanilla and salt
- add cereal and coat well
- press mixture into greased 9"x13" pan
- melt chocolate chips and olive oil in microwave, stirring every 15-20 seconds until smooth
- spread chocolate over top
- put in fridge to form
- cut in squares and enjoy!

*tip: You can also use rice chex or honey nut cheerios.  You can use all chex or all cheerios, just be sure the mixture adds up to 6 cups.
