Sunday Estate Sale Finds

First off, I had an okay sale on Saturday.  Unfortunately the midday downpours really put a damper on the outdoor sale.  And if you read my Facebook page, you already know that I'm done with sales for the rest of the year.  I really need a break!  My summer class meets for the last time this coming Saturday and the final project for the class is due a week later.  Thankfully, I don't have any classes that meet in August.  Then September I have a class that meets every Saturday.  Such a bummer.  But October means DUBLIN and LONDON!  I'm so freaking excited for this!

Anyways, I went to an estate sale on Sunday afternoon... check out what I bought... It's all already in my Etsy shop!

Forgive my toe in the corner of the picture.  I won't bore you and show the individual shots of all of these.  I just thought the wedding pictures were really neat to look at up close.

Happy Monday!

Weekend Haul

I kind of always assume I'm going to have a terrible buying weekend when I miss a good auction on Saturday.  But, class is more important.  And I'm learning the most interesting things that I hope to apply to my own business soon.  I'm in the process of writing a business plan and submitting to the SBA an application for a loan.  I know what I want and I've been working towards it for almost 4 years.  Time to make it happen!  And get rid of the dreaded day job.  Any advice or encouragement is GREATLY appreciated!

Anyways, on to the finds.  Saturday I got out of class around noon and headed up north to Lapel, IN.  They had an auction going on.  I only caught the tail end of it.  But, here's what I came away with (along with some new storage for my garage!)...

Since the auction ended about 15 minute after I got there, I paid and asked if there were any local places I could go to dig through for some treasures.  Well, apparently Lapel was having their town-wide yard sale in conjunction with a parade and street festival (carnival?).  Here's what I picked up...

I also got a box of Shiny Brites... but forgot to take a picture of them.  I was sad that there was no Pyrex to be found except for these cute little s&p shakers.

Sunday morning I hit up the Meridian mansion again that I had shopped at 2 weeks ago.  I have been itching to start collecting great furniture pieces for an eventual shop opening.  Let's see how long these beauties last...

Also picked up the cute little child's ironing board with owls!  After I unloaded these cabinets at home, I headed to Lebanon, IN where there was a rare on-site Sunday auction.  So glad I didn't stay home, because I got lots of great stuff.  I couldn't even properly take pictures of it all...

Seriously, I bought so much more stuff.  I had to break out the adult beverages to get me through all the cleaning, sorting, and pricing.

Still not even close.  Ironing and pricing linens is going to happen tonight.  My least favorite part, but great sellers.  So, I wanted to show you a little glimpse of my workspace.  I love it more and more everyday.  My lime green laptop looks great on it.  Don't mind the Breaking Bad that was playing on Netflix while I was working.

Here's a shot of it all cleaned up.

And finally, I'm participating in one of my favorite flea markets again this Saturday...

My Saturday De-Stash Sale

There was pretty much nothing going on in Indy this past weekend in the way of auctions, estate sales, etc.  It was half price Saturday at Goodwill, but the prices have been so high lately, that even at half off, the price is still more than I'd like to pay on a lot of items.  So, I decided I was going to have a sale at my house to kind of de-stash a lot of stuff that I've had for awhile.

I had a really great turn out!  Lots of people showed up when I opened at 8.  Many thanked me for having the sale, because they noticed that nothing was going on that weekend too.  I did as well as, if not better, than most days I set up at the flea for 8 hours.  And I only stayed open for 4 hours.  Well, it ended up being 4 and half hours because, of course, you have those peope that show up RIGHT as you're closing, hoping to really low-ball you on some stuff.  One guy kinda made me mad about it.  Was asking how much everyhing was, even though it was clearly marked.  He was offered $1 for items that were priced $10, $15, and he even offered $1 for a $25 item.  Uh, no.  I politely declined all of his offers and he ended up leaving empty-handed.

Well, I want to show you the set up from before I opened up Saturday morning...

It's pretty obvious I set up in my garage.  Which is really ugly.  Even when I cleaned it up really nicely.  And used lacy table clothes to cover ugly things like my lawn mower, etc.

My garage is still set up.  But, I think it's finally time to deep clean my storage room, and move all my merchandise back inside.

Happy Monday!

I Lied...

So I had my first class for my MBA program on Saturday morning.  I thought it was going to feel like it would never end (ya know, because it was 4 hours long), but the time flew by.  It is a social media marketing class.  Which is really relevant to my business, so I just ate up every word the professor had to say.

So, because Saturday morning are prime auction and estate sale times, I thought I was going to go home after class and not get to go buy anything.  Well, I lied.  The night before class I was alerted to an auction that had an aluminum Christmas tree.  The sale was being run by my favorite auctioneers.  I called to put an absentee bid on the tree.  They just told me they'd hold off on selling it until I got to the sale.  They knew what they were doing, because of course I was going to come and buy more stuff!

It was over an hour drive from campus to where the auction is being held.  And it was pouring down rain.  And I hit some pretty horrible traffic due to the rain.  When I finally arrived at the farm, I jumped out of my truck and ran to the barn where they were selling the remainder of the stuff that wasn't outside getting wet.  They saw me come in and the next thing that was up for sale was that tree.  And I won it!  Of course, I wasn't going to drive that far to let that beauty out of my sight.  I won a table full of stuff too.  Usually if you stay until the end you can get some pretty great deals.  Ya know, like tables full of stuff.

So here's what I got:

All the pieces are there.
Thankfully I had a tree stand.
Now I just need a rotating one.
And a color wheel.

A bookshelf and the stuff that was
at  the bottom of the box that the tree was in.

Stuff from the table full that I bought...

And more...

And more...

Yesterday afternoon I went to the estate sale in one of the Meridian mansions in Indy that a friend had alerted me to.  Not McMansion.  Early 1900s mansion.  The house was beautiful.  It was also 50% off / make a deal day...

Some depression glass...

Anyone need a doily?  There are 37 here.

So when you promise yourself you're not going to go junking, usually it still finds you.  So, maybe I should say again that I'm not going to go junking this coming weekend.  But, it is probably a lie.

I'd say happy Monday, but I'm home sick from my day job.  Yuck.
