Friday I attended an estate sale of a family member of one of my coworkers and the bi-annual sale of one of my dealer friends. Her and her husband are in the real estate business. So, they clear out a lot of estates. Then somewhere along the way they opened up a couple antique stores to sell stuff they get from clearing out estates. They store a lot of the stuff in a couple warehouses they've bought. They hold a sale twice a year and I make a point to get there at least one of the three days. I have been lucky enough to pick this warehouse before many times. Here is what I got last April.
This pile may not look like much, but I picked up a bunch of new old stock stuff. I love that kind of stuff. Her and her husband cleared out a pharmacy that had been out of business for ages.
So, let's see what I got!
I'll start with the pile of salvage pieces. I am collecting salvage pieces to build a chicken coop at our new home. I had to have a touch of vintage. I created a Pinterest board devoted to this coop, if you're into that sort of thing...
This will be the door. I wanted a door that is a little shorter than your average door, because the chicken coop does not need to be super tall.
I picked up some salvage chippy wood.
The piece on the left originally was a trim piece over a door. I think I'll use it for the same purpose!
My favorite thing I got was this shopping basket display. I already had one of the shopping baskets, so I added it to the display. I intend for people to actually use it!
I also got this Scotch Tape display. I thought it would be perfect to display some of the new old stock stuff I got...
I got lots of cards of pins and clips...
and boxes of talc.
They fit perfectly on this display.
Speaking of new old stock... I picked up the last box of Silver Par and five boxes of Hadacol (a dietary supplement). I could've had a couple cases, if I wanted!
I can't go anywhere without some type of vintage Christmas following me home. I settled for new old stock boxes of Christmas light bulbs.
I had bought some of these last April. I did not buy enough! So, I bought all she had left.
And finally... some Rosin, Flash Medicated Rub, a jar of ink and a tiny box of erasers
In today's weird junk: a tin container that frozen peas came in! I liked it a lot, but decided that since we're moving, nothing new comes into the house.
I found two of these little notebooks in her warehouse. Why oh why could I not have found a whole box? I mean, the cute graphics PLUS Coca Cola advertising... how could I go wrong?
(PS - I just found a few lots of these on ebay and had to buy them!)
These would be cute in a 4th of July display.
2 metal items that are missing pieces, but who can resist them for a few bucks?
The green bowl is Bauer pottery. Never bought before, but will look for closely in the future. This pieces sells on ebay for $40-50. Some crazy folks have it listed for more than that, too! I love these Morton Pottery bulldogs (I have a green one). I bought a bunch of them a few years ago.
Bought this collection of Fiesta from the estate sale for a good price.
A crock and a jug.
I don't buy a ton of Tupperware unless it basically looks unused. I almost kept these pieces since I have the matching canister set from my great aunt.
Well, that's it for now. I'll say it again, I don't know when I'll be back. Hopefully it won't be long. Wish us luck in getting everything packed up!
